ABOUT THE SHOW

IONA's newest evening-length work, Oh My Goddess! (Ola Ko'u Akua Wahine!) premiered on September 29, 2023 at the Hawai'i Convention Center. The production was a brilliant success and will live on past the world premiere to be performed at high schools, prisons, local and corporate events. A documentary film is in the works and we hope to tour the show to new communities near and far.

Oh My Goddess! aims to impact our local community and re-energize the hospitality industry with this ground breaking new work featuring contemporary representations of the four Hawaiian goddesses Pele, Hi'iaka, Namaka, and Poliahu. Oh My Goddess! revitalizes the Hawaiian notion of mana wahine, the inherent strength of women, while showcasing Hawaii’s unique connection to the environment–giving ancient stories new life for Hawai’i’s people and those beyond our shore.

IONA celebrates the artistic expressions of Hawai`i's diverse cultures and communities in this “Japanese butoh dance, meets haute couture fashion, meets Hawaiian culture” unique and forward thinking new work.
