Please join us for an intimate performance featuring two World Premiere works by IONA Artistic Director Cheryl Flaharty on a cast of twelve dancers.

Breed explores birth, immigration, and race using large, 2-foot colored balloons that represent “air-filled” heads, wombs of pregnant mothers, and molecules of DNA. Twisting beauty with jealousy and playfulness with greed, Flaharty uses the unassuming balloon to project a wide range of emotions addressing, through the power of dance, our current social and political climate, and the challenges we face as a human race.

Resonance features musician, Bryan Jordan, who creates healing music using crystal singing bowls, and other instruments. Resonance is presented as a “call to peace” using the peace bell as its central motif; incorporated into the work are 12 Japanese furin (wind bells) which are played by the dancers.
