CLASSES & AUDITIONS

IONA’s Artistic Director Cheryl Flaharty conducts a variety of master classes and workshops that inspire and educate.The Company holds one to two butoh dance workshops annually. Lecture demonstrations explore the merging of eastern and western traditions in dance and theatre, the use of imagery and color toward content in choreography, and the role of dance in the community.

Auditions are held generally once per year, however many of IONA's dancers have beed discovered through community workshops. Dancers in the Company work as independent contractors and all performances are paid. IONA currently hosts 20 plus dancers, some of whom participate in the annual productions, and all of whom participate in smaller corporate and community performances.

IONA has developed audiences for dance through their numerous collaborations with opera companies, photographers, playwrights, and composers.
